In the evening of 25th of March the first quadrilateral meeting of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan has been held in Dushanbe.
The issues of regional cooperation in spheres of policy, joint security interaction in fight against modern world threats and challenges, enhancement of socio-economic, investment, innovation relations and others have been discussed at the meeting, which was chaired by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon, with reference to enhancement of the role of four countries in the region, Islamic world and at the international level, considered necessary the establishment of mutually beneficial quadrilateral relations.
It was accentuated that Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan should take active efforts for construction of modern network of power, gas, and pure drinking water supply, railways and automobile roads.
The construction of hydropower plants in Tajikistan and transmission of cheap electricity power to interested countries was evaluated as of infinite benefit.
The elevation of works on assessment and construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan railway to new level and its linking with relevant networks of Iran and Pakistan was also considered necessary.
The heads of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan supported the proposal of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on the establishment of Economic, Cultural and Security Forum of Four Countries, as well as expressed interest in the organization and expansion of mutually advantageous relations.
