President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which reads, in particular:

The anniversary of the national holiday of the Russian Federation - the day of the Declaration of State Sovereignty gives me a pleasant opportunity to congratulate you and the friendly Russian people on this momentous occasion.

For Tajikistan, Russia is a natural strategic partner with whom relations will always be a priority in our foreign policy strategy.

We appreciate the state of the Tajik-Russian multifaceted ties, which contribute to the steady development of close and regular political contacts at the highest level.

Effective cooperation between our countries in the CIS, CSTO, SCO, the UN and other international and regional organizations is another example of creative partnership between Tajikistan and Russia.

We are convinced that our country will be able to fill their cooperation which serves the fundamental interests of the two states and peoples with the new positive momentum and to elevate them to a qualitatively new level corresponding to our rich potential.
