President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent to the President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev a congratulatory message on the occasion of 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations, which reads in part:

“We in Tajikistan appreciate the relations of close friendship and wide-ranging cooperation with Russian Federation – our strategic partner. These relations occupy a particular place in foreign policy priorities of our state.

I note with satisfaction that over the past two decades the interaction between our countries had a dynamics of positive development and was accompanied by a qualitative enhancement on all key positions of cooperation, both in bilateral and multilateral areas.

Reaffirming our keen interest in enriching of all aspects of partnership between the two countries with new substance, I express confidence that, relying on an existing potential in Tajik-Russian relationship, we will achieve with our joint efforts the highest levels in its development for the benefit of our peoples”.
