The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the governor of the Ivanovo region of the Russian Federation Pavel Konkov.
The sides discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, including the relations between regions of the two countries.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the content of relations between Tajikistan and Russia, and said that "The Russian Federation has been and remains the main investment partner of Tajikistan, because now some 50% of direct foreign investments into the economy of our country fall to our strategic partner".
It was noted that "this trend should not only be maintained, but expanded."
Particular attention was paid to promising relations between regions of the two countries, in particular between Sogd and Khatlon regions of Tajikistan and the Ivanovo Region of the Russian Federation.
It was stressed that more than 75 cooperation agreements have been signed between the regions of the two countries.
Among the promising areas of cooperation with the Ivanovo region of Russia were named fields of energy, industry, transport, construction, modern technology, agriculture and processing of its products, including cotton, fruit, vegetables and export of quality products.
