The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Executive Directors of the World Bank.
At the meeting issues of mutual cooperation, including support for social and economic development of Tajikistan and assistance to reduce the negative impact of external factors on the economy were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to ways of effective implementation of the Action Plan of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on prevention of possible threats to the country's economy and regulations of Executive Directors of the World Bank's anti-crisis mechanisms and initiatives.
Now in Tajikistan 21 projects totaling 323 million US dollars are implemented, funded by the World Bank Group.
One of the largest and mutually beneficial projects between Tajikistan and the World Bank is the construction of a regional 500 kW power line CASA-1000, which provides for the supply of electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan. This project must be activated until 2018.
