The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of the Swiss National Bank Thomas Jordan.
At the meeting the issues of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Switzerland were discussed.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the cooperation and partnership of Tajikistan and Switzerland, in particular, he said: "We consider Switzerland as one of our important partners in the European continent and pay special attention to it."
A striking example of an effective partnership has been called the single representative of Tajikistan and Switzerland to the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Appreciation was expressed for the legal basis of the economic and trade cooperation. It was noted with satisfaction that in 2014 the trade turnover between the two countries reached 480 mln. US dollars, which is 5.8 times more than in 2013.
In addition, was highly appreciated the contribution of Switzerland to the implementation of various projects in Tajikistan aimed at ensuring social and economic stability.
However, it was pointed out that for the further expansion of trade-economic and investment cooperation there exist a number of untapped opportunities.
The parties stressed the strong interest in the further development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, including in terms of reducing the negative impact of external factors of the crisis on the economy of Tajikistan.
