Today, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held an official meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-hye.

The meeting addressed issues regarding friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Korea.

It was expressed satisfaction over the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially over the recent years. It was noted that during the 10 years the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Korea increased 7-fold. Currently, 16 joint ventures with Korean investment are fruitfully functioning in Tajikistan.

At the same time, it was highlighted that there are still a lot of untapped opportunities and resources in relations between the two countries. The domains of policy, economy and trade, investment, industry, energy, mining, agriculture, transport, teleradiocommunications and electronics, education, health, environmental protection, water supply, science, culturel, labor migration have been named as promising for comprehensive expansion of bilateral relations.

It was stressed that both sides are interested in attraction of labor migrants of Tajikistan to Korea and will take necessary measures for this cause.
Following the meeting 5 new documents of cooperation have been signed:

-Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Korea on air communication;

-Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Korea on economic and scientific-technical cooperation;

-Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea;

-Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea on Cooperation in the Sphere of Culture and Arts;

-Memorandum of Understanding between the Committee of Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea on Cooperation in the Sphere of Sports.

The details of cooperation between Tajikistan and Korea were first of all considered in the spheres of economy, trade, investment and implementation of humanitarian projects during a meeting between President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Korea International Cooperation Agency Kim Young Mok.

At the initiative of Tajikistani side the Korean side has decided to open its KOICA office in Dushanbe city.
