In the afternoon, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
President Emomali Rahmon in the beginning of the meeting noted that "the development of a strategic partnership with Russia is among the long-term priorities of the foreign policy of Tajikistan."
A constructive conversation took place on political, military-technical, socio-economic, investment, scientific and cultural cooperation.
The central themes of conversation were also issues of cooperation in the fields of regional security, the legal status of Tajik labor migrants in Russia, investment in the economy of Tajikistan.
The Tajik side expressed concern about the legal status of not only migrant workers, but also Tajik students in Russia or those crossing its territory in transit.
It was noted that 4 new documents between the two countries have been prepared, with the signing of which will be eliminated many of the problems associated with the protection of the rights of migrant workers of Tajikistan in Russia.
Along with an expression of satisfaction that about 30% of Tajikistan's foreign trade is carried out with Russia, however, it was emphasized that trade and economic cooperation, there are also urgent problems to be addressed.
The meeting also discussed other issues related to bilateral, regional and international relations.
