Today, President Emomali Rahmon in the framework of the next meeting of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan received the deputy head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Kiyoshi Kodera.
The meeting discussed issues of bilateral and international cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan and the Agency for International Cooperation of the country for their continued support of progress and development of Tajikistan, as well as confidence in further expansion of the scope of cooperation between the two countries.
It was emphasized that during the years of cooperation with Japan in Tajikistan were invested more than 300 million US dollars in grants and 60 million US dollars as technical assistance aimed at the implementation of major investment projects in various sectors of the economy, as well as capacity building and institutional development. Now several projects in the social sector, energy, transport, agriculture, the development of remote areas, as well as in the provision of drinking water are functioning.
Kiyoshi Kodera stressed that the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation in the future will further strengthen cooperation with Tajikistan, in particular, to reduce the negative impact of external factors, including the impact of the economic problems of some countries that are considered important trade partners of Tajikistan.
