Meeting with Chairman of Vulus Jirga of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdurrauf Ibrohimi

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of Vulus Jirga (Parliament) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdurrauf Ibrohimi.

The meeting discussed issues of friendly relations and multilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

President Emomali Rahmon, in the beginning of the meeting, said: "The development of cooperation with neighboring Afghanistan, with whom we share a common language and religion, is among the most important foreign policy priorities of our state, and the question of full normalization of the situation in the country, the establishment of peace and stability in it is a key and very important issue for Tajikistan".

It was expressed confidence that the Government of National Unity of Afghanistan will succeed in promoting sustainable stability, including by maintaining an acceptable and accurate political, ethnic and tribal balance.

A. Ibrohimi, in his turn, highly appreciated the role of Tajikistan, especially the direct contribution of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in support of Afghanistan's interests in the region and the world, as well as friendship, good-neighborliness and cooperation between the two countries sharing a common culture, and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the leadership and the people of Afghanistan.

A constructive discussion took place on the implementation of regional infrastructure projects for the construction of railways and roads, power lines and other projects.

It was expressed confidence that the parliaments of Tajikistan and Afghanistan will be able to make a significant contribution in various spheres of cooperation, including cooperation in the field of politics and security, economy, trade, investment, culture, science and other spheres of lives of peoples of the two friendly and neighboring countries.
