Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in the city of Minsk, Belarus.
Presidents of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, the Russian Federation and the host country - Belarus, participated in this Summit. Ukraine was represented by Ambassador to Belarus.
The main topics of the agenda were the expansion of cooperation in the fields of politics and security, trade, economic and cultural cooperation in the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, improving the legal framework of relations, strengthening cooperation in order to prevent terrorism and extremism and the fight against these evils, as well as preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
President Emomali Rahmon in his speech drew the attention of his colleagues to the current situation in Afghanistan and the future of this country, the implementation of the decision of Heads of State of the Commonwealth with respect to emergency technical assistance to Tajikistan to strengthen the protection of the state border with Afghanistan.
Head of State Emomali Rahmon, drawing the attention of the meeting to increase the threat of terrorism and extremism, encouraged them to develop effective cooperation and collaboration.
