A very important meeting of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took place with the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
At the beginning head of state of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stressed: “Relations with Uzbekistan are undoubtedly one of the main priorities for Tajikistan”. It was also highlighted: “I would like to underline especially that we are sincerely interested in the strengthening of equal relations with brotherly Uzbekistan, in the expansion of interaction spheres and development of ties in all areas”.
Heads of both states expressed interest in the enhancement of friendly relations and neighborliness formed over the long history of co-existence of peoples of both countries.
It was noted with regret that the volume of trade turnover between the two countries from 2007 decreased from 300 mln.USD to 2,1 mln.USD in 2014. It is under the circumstances when the existing opportunities indicate to the possible yearly volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan of more than 500 mln. USD.
During a constructive talk taken place in a warm and sincere atmosphere it was expressed confidence that the existing barriers and problems will be eliminated from the path of development of relations between the two neighborly countries, including within the Agreement on Eternal Friendship signed in 2000.
