Today, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ziror Ahmad Usmoni.
The issues regarding the friendly and neighborly relations and wide-ranging cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan have been considered.
It was expressed confidence that the second round of presidential elections in Afghanistan will be conducted in favorable atmosphere and will lead to strengthening of political security and stability as well as social and economic development.
Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon expressed hope that “following the election and take of office of the new President of Afghanistan the consistency will be completely maintained in the process of bilateral relations and the relations of good neighboring, friendship and cooperation between our countries will more develop and strengthen”.
It was expressed satisfaction over the beneficial cooperation between the military and law enforcement structures of the two countries in fight against threats of terrorism, extremism and illegal drug trafficking.
Much attention was paid to the expansion of cooperation in the domains of economy, trade, energy, transport and road-building.
The sides voiced their gratification over the fruitful activities of 220 kV power transmission line Sangtuda-Puli Khumri and stressed that they should take coordinated efforts for successful implementation of project for construction of 500 kV CASA-1000 PTL.
Such cooperation was considered necessary on rapid and quality construction of railway Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan, laying out of gas pipeline from Afghanistan to Tajikistan and fruitful implementation of other regional infrastructure projects.
A constructive exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
