This evening, President Emomali Rahmon received the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha.
The meeting addressed the issues of Tajikistan’s cooperation with this authoritative international financial institution, support of socio-economic development of the country, reduction of negative impact of economic and financial crisis to the economy of Tajikistan and questions related to the report on assessment works of project “Roghun HPP”.
Saroj Kumar Jha informed that the draft report on the economic and socio-ecological impact assessment of project for construction of Roghun HPP will be published in June and the meeting with representatives of riparian countries along Amudarya River will discuss it in July. The final report, according to him, will be approved following the study of views of the region’s population in August current year.
Head of state Emomali Rahmon thanked the management of the World Bank for consistent support of socio-economic development of Tajikistan, as well as expressed confidence that the position of this respected international institution on comprehensive study of Roghun HPP project will remain unbiased and independent.
A constructive talk took place on the implementation of CASA-1000 project, railway Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan and other projects of regional importance.
