President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of condolences to the President of China Xi Jinping, which reads, in part:

"Dear Mr. President,

The people of Tajikistan has accepted the news of the terrorist attack at a market in Urumqi, which killed dozens of innocent people and affected a significant number of civilians, with pain, anger and condemnation.

This barbaric act proves once again the urgent need for effective joint efforts of the international community to effectively confront international terrorism and the eradication of conditions conducive to its emergence and spread. China should be assured that Tajikistan will always be loyal and reliable partner in the fight against this scourge.

Please, Your Excellency, convey our deepest condolences and sympathy to the families and friends of the victims, as well as the wishes of speedy recovery to the injured."
