Today, President Emomali Rahmon as a tradition on the eve of Navruz holiday had a meeting with numerous representatives of intelligentsia of the republic.

This meeting of the head of state Emomali Rahmon with intelligentsia of the country has been held in the hall of Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Sadriddin Ayni.

At the beginning of his speech President of the country Emomali Rahmon called Navruz “one of our most important and holiest national traditions” and stated that “Navruz embodies in itself all the grandeur of our ancient history and civilization”.

It was stressed that “one of the main reasons for Navruz gaining international status is that it is based on the principles of humanity, tolerance and attachment to kindness and good deeds”.

Head of state Emomali Rahmon heralded that “the authoritative UNESCO organization has accepted the proposal of Tajikistan on holding the 600^th anniversary of Mavlono Abdurahmoni Jomi in 2014 and has taken a relevant decision”.

As well it was informed that this year the 20^th anniversary of the adoption of Constitution and National Anthem of Tajikistan will be celebrated.

Head of state Emomali Rahmon announced the new ancestral year of 2014 “Year of commemoration of Mavlono Jomi”.

In the area of public support to creativity of intelligentsia, it was in particular reminded that during only five last year 13 cultural palaces, 5 museums, 13 libraries, 60 book stores, as well as National Library with 10 million books, National Museum have been constructed and 305 libraries and 105 cultural palaces have been renovated.

 President Emomali Rahmon also supported the creation of “Tajik Wikipedia” in the Internet that is the initiative of our patriotic youth, and instructed to the chief editorial board of national Tajik encyclopedia to introduce its huge scientific and public information to this world electronic encyclopedia and launch its Internet website.
