In Bishkek President Emomali Rahmon at first met with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to discuss the various aspects of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states.
With reference to the results of state visit of the President of Tajikistan to China in May current year, it was expressed satisfaction over the elevating of relationships of the two countries to the level of strategic partnership, as well as over the decision of the Government of China to lay the gas pipeline of Turkmenistan-China via the territory of Tajikistan.
The expansion of ties in the framework of SCO was named one of the priority directions of relations between Tajikistan and China.
At the end Emomali Rahmon invited Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was cordially accepted.
Following the meeting an intergovernmental agreement on laying out the pipeline for transmission of natural gas from Turkmenistan to China via the territory of Tajikistan was signed in the presence of heads of both states.
