Opening of grand sports palace in Khujand city

A grand sports palace has been opened in Khujand city with the participation of head of state Emomali Rahmon. As it was mentioned, its construction began in April 2012 at the instruction of the President of Tajikistan.

The total area of sports palace makes up 8300 sq. m. and its main hall consists of 3000 seats for spectators. The sports halls of this palace are adjusted to international standards, and have the possibilities for setting up regional and international competitions in weight-lifting, boxing, volleyball, basketball, acrobatics, competitive gymnastics and calisthenics, freestyle wrestling, judo, wrestling, handball, indoor football, badminton, draughts, chess, karate, tennis, table tennis and etc.

In one of the halls of sports palace head of state Emomali Rahmon presented 130 orphans with material assistance and gifts. Thus, up to date presidential material aid has been rendered in all cities and districts of Sughd region, in total to 787 orphans.
