Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the regular session of the CIS Council of Head of States in the capital city of Turkmenistan – Ashgabat.
In addition, heads of other member states of this organisation, including Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Prime Minister of Moldova, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan and Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan have gathered in Ashgabat to attend the summit.
About 20 issues, in particular issues of economic-trade, scientific and technological, and cultural cooperation, as well as interaction regarding the activities of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly and joint CIS Air Defense System have been considered at the meeting.
The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon drew major attention of head of states to the development of cooperation in the sectors of economy and trade, transport, communications and energy, as well as stated that “economic relations are the main bases of cooperation in all other sectors and our political, scientific and cultural ties cannot gain fruitful progress without the desired enhancement of works in this direction”.
Following the discussion of agenda issues, held during the narrow-format meeting of head of states and expanded-format meetings with the participation of official delegations, a number of new cooperation documents have been signed by the head of states and delegations. Declaration of CIS head of states on further development of comprehensive cooperation, statement on the preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, Agreement on Cooperation in Establishing Joint Foreign Currency Market and agreements on the preparation of personnel for anti-terrorist structures and ensuring logistical support of such bodies are among the signed acts.
