Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has addressed a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on the occasion of the 20th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which reads, in part:
“We cherish in Tajikistan centuries-old traditions of friendship and good neighborliness between our two nations.
Based on them, from the first days of our national independence, we strive to continue to develop the full range of the Tajik-Uzbek constructive cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual consideration of interests inherent in the basic documents regulating our current bilateral relations.
Availing this opportunity, I would like to emphasize that our joint efforts would not only allow us to meet today's challenges and threats, but also to elevated the relations between our countries to a qualitatively new level of development for the benefit of our peoples and for the strengthening of regional stability”.
