On 2 October 2012, the respected European magazine “Diplomatic World” (Brussels) (#36) published a five-page article entitled “The Architect of Peace” on the work of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The article summarises the content of the book published in English and in French on 28 September last in Brussels by one of Europe’s better known news and consulting companies, Big Media Group, under the same title (“The Architect of Peace”, «L’Architecte de la Paix»).
In the book, edited by Rahim Masov, a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, the authors, professor Abdufattoh Sharifzoda and the historian Abdullo Ghafurov, draw on reliable sources to narrate the twenty-year career of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. They describe the incredible efforts deployed and the historic role played by the head of state in establishing peace and national concord, in restoring public order to the country, and in ensuring the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homeland. They also explain his role in the adoption of a new constitution for Tajikistan, in strengthening the authority of the state and the country’s independence, in encouraging economic and cultural development, as well as in raising the profile of the Tajik state in the international arena.
The article, written in English, explains that the book takes us on a real historical journey, in which the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon helped to restore and strengthen peace, stability and prosperity in the Tajik homeland. “Diplomatic World” notes that “Emomali Rahmon, undertaking a huge responsibility, was able to put national interests above private, group, local and regional ones”.
In addition to the “Long road to peace” and the effective steps taken for the comprehensive enhancement of vital sectors of the country’s life, the article also highlights the international recognition achieved by Tajikistan and the country’s interaction within the world community, including regional and international organisations, and with partners in Europe and Asia, that are direct consequences of the action of its head of state Emomali Rahmon. The article draws the reader’s attention to the fact that, as a result of Tajikistan’s “open-door” policy in bilateral and multilateral relations with other countries and subjects of international law, its prestige in the world arena has steadily increased from year to year, while the humanism and attachment to the principles of unity and peace of President Emomali Rahmon have earned him a position of considerable authority and respect, both in his own country and abroad.
The European magazine “Diplomatic World” has a total circulation of 25,000 copies per issue and is read by some 65,000 people throughout the European Union. According to the director of this authoritative European publication, Ms Bernadette J. Reyntjens, it is distributed to the highest levels of all the institutions of the European Union and NATO, to other international organisations and to Europe’s political and business elite.
