The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali attended a military parade commemorating Tajik Militia Day.

Following the broadcast of the national anthem, President Rahmon congratulated current and former personnel of Tajikistan's Interior Ministry with their professional holiday.

“Since gaining independence, and despite the difficulties, the Interior Ministry bodies have become a powerful law enforcement agency, and today, together with other military and intelligence agencies, are able to fight against any forms of crime, those elements that threaten the internal security and stability of the state and society, and the well-being of the people of Tajikistan in general," noted Rahmon.

He also noted his appreciation of the work of law enforcement officers toward the restoration of the constitutional order, the fight against treacherous and criminal groups, and for ensuring peace and political stability in the country.

While remembering the sacrifices of hundreds of officers, President Rahmon stressed that the government and the grateful people of Tajikistan will never forget their selflessness and good name.

The government is taking effective measures to gradually improve the working and living conditions of employees, strengthening social protection and the material and technical base of the militia.

Following ten years, the amount of funding for the police from the central budget has increased by more than 150%, and salaries have tripled on average.

During this period, more than 750 police officers were provided with housing and more than 3,000 of them were provided with plots of land. Today another 40 police officers received new homes in Dushanbe. Currently, the construction of another multi-storey residential building for Interior Ministry's personnel is underway in the capital.

Since state independence, 100 officers were awarded with higher military titles and ranks, and 670 of them received state awards.

Speaking about the regional and global difficult political and military situation, President Rahmon urged every law enforcement officer not to lose political vigilance and make every effort to prevent crime, in particular, transnational organized crime, such as extremism, terrorism, drug trafficking, and arms trafficking.

In honor of the day, by a presidential decree, three officers were awarded service ranks for their meritorious services.
