Telephone conversation with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

At the outset of the conversation, President Putin conveyed his deep condolences over the death of President Rahmon's sister.

The counterparts paid particular attention to the scheduling of the summit meetings, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of multilateral cooperation.

In this regard, the sides discussed the process of preparations for the upcoming official visit of President Putin to Tajikistan. The importance of further practical implementation of the huge potential of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia in all areas, including  strengthening cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations was also discussed. The parties reviewed issues related to the preparations for the SCO summit and a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council planned to take place in Dushanbe.

They also exchanged views on  a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, including the latest developments in Afghanistan. President Rahmon and Vladimir Putin expressed concern over the critical development of the situation in Afghanistan. The parties reportedly agreed to closely coordinate action in this area.
