Working trip to Darvoz of GBAO

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in the GBAO on a working visit in order to become familiar with the progress of its socio-economic development.

During his trip, he also held a number of meetings with the locals and took part in opening ceremonies.

In the Darvoz district, he attended the opening ceremony of the Karon-Calcite enterprise, which will produce marble-derived microcalcite.​ The company plans to manufacture 100,000 tonnes of products per year.

In the Dashti Luch area, President Rahmon laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 17.5 km canal for irrigation of 500 hectares of land.

While inspecting the military unit of the land forces, President Rahmon held a meeting with the soldiers and officers whose mission is to secure the Tajik - Afghan state.

This was followed by the opening ceremony of the district court, where he met with 55 orphans and children from vulnerable families of Darvoz, Vanj and Rushan districts of GBAO. President Rahmon presented them with cash assistance and clothes, and emphasized that the low-income segment of the population are under the constant care​ and​ attention​ of the leadership of the state and the government.

President Rahmon also inspected project designs of the Darvoz Presidential School in Umarak community and took part in the foundation laying ceremony for its construction. The school which will accommodate 480 students will be financed by a local businessman.

Also, in the Darvoz district, President Rahmon opened a modern​ Cultural​ and​ Recreational Park, financed by eleven domestic patriotic entrepreneurs. The park includes playgrounds, historical monuments and other attractions.

President Rahmon also took part in the opening ceremony of the Chorchaman Hills hotel which was built by local entrepreneurs. The purpose of the hotel is to attract more foreign tourists to the country within the framework of the announced years of rural development, tourism and folk crafts.

Also in Darvoz, President Rahmon had a meeting with a group of Afghan citizens who had gathered in the banks of the Panj River.

Within the framework of Tajik – Afghan friendly ties, a group of Afghan citizens addressed some of their concerns, including water​ scarcity, energy supply, communications, and lack of paved roads.

The Tajik government has built bridges between the two countries which has facilitated the unimpeded movement of citizens of the two countries, and resulted in the establishment of cross-border markets.

During the cordial conversation, President Rahmon expressed his views on the current level of win-win cooperation between the two friendly, neighboring countries, and emphasized that all problems will be resolved within the framework of friendly relations.

Citizens of the neighboring Afghanistan thanked President Rahmon for the opportunity to meet and his efforts to restore peace, stability and progress in Afghanistan.

Later, President Rahmon visited the Duroba village, where he opened the Industrial and Technology Park.

The park includes two greenhouses for growing citrus and vegetables, six modern production lines for the manufacture of protective clothing, antiseptics, face masks, water and packaging of natural honey as well as cardboard.

The park has been built by domestic entrepreneurs by attracting of development partner for production​ of import-substituting products.
The products will be distributed domestically and exported to neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.

The production capacity of this line is of 10 tonnes of antiseptic, 24,000 face masks, and 50,000 goggles in 24 hours. ​

President Rahmon also met with representatives of the public to discuss social and economic development of Darvoz. The discussion focused on social support measures, improving living standards, increasing production capacity, improving the investment climate, creating new enterprises and​ new jobs.

Other issues discussed included the 30th anniversary of independence, which will take place next year, industrial development, mining exploration work, opening the Ravnov coal deposit, and other matters.
