Meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The meeting took place on June 14 on the sidelines of the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.

During the sincere meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of friendly and fraternal relations, as well as cooperation and good neighborliness of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the possibility of another meeting in the framework of an international level event and welcomed the distinguished guest in Tajikistan.

The counterparts expressed their support for a permanent and stable position of the states and peoples of the two countries with a view to continuing the development of strategic partnerships, and stressed that thanks to mutual trust, they will strive to achieve the goals related to the implementation of the previously reached agreements.

The parties also discussed the development of trade and economic relations, creation of joint production enterprises, increasing the volume of trade, as well as other mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

During the discussion of security issues, the heads of state focused on addressing the political problems of Afghanistan, jointly combating threats and challenges, such as terrorism, religious extremism, illicit drug trafficking and other negative phenomena.

In connection with the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, the parties noted the need of holding a Dushanbe Day in Tashkent and a Tashkent Day in Dushanbe.
