Meeting with the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev

The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today at the Palace of the Nation received the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev.

Particular attention was given during the meeting to holding of the upcoming CIS Heads of State Council session in the capital of our country – Dushanbe.

While CIS chairmanship passed to Tajikistan, our country actively worked out Commonwealth Concept and a plan for its implementation and is making significant contribution to the development of integration of states within the framework of the Commonwealth.

During the meeting afterwards, Lebedev highly appreciated the role of Tajikistan during its chairmanship in the development and expansion of trade and economic cooperation, transportation and infrastructure, humanitarian intervention and labor relations.

They highly appreciated contribution of Tajikistan on strengthening the integration cooperation in the Commonwealth in military, military-technical sphere, and cooperation between intelligence agencies on addressing challenges and ensuring security was called important.

Sergey Lebedev expressed his gratitude to the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for his efforts aimed at carrying out implementation of the third stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2021 and the provisions of the CIS Treaty on Free Trade Area and supporting initiatives issued by the CIS Executive Committee regarding announcement of the city of Dushanbe Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth in 2021.

Other issues on cooperation of CIS participating states were discussed during the meeting.
