Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Prayuth Chan-o-cha

President Emomali Rahmon has met with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Prayuth Chan-o-cha.

During the meeting the two sides expressed a quite optimistic view on the future prospects of Tajik – Thai relations. They reaffirmed joint commitment for further development of cooperation between the two countries meeting common interests.

The two sides voiced their satisfaction at various levels, including high-levels, and political dialogue between Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Thailand and stressed their readiness and interest for further development and expansion of cooperation in the spheres of trade, economy, investment, tourism, education and other areas of mutual interest.

In order to promote the bilateral relationships to a new level, both sides acknowledged creating a Tajik-Thai joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation in order to attract the investment opportunities of the Thai side to the energy and road infrastructure of Tajikistan, to create a Joint Agricultural Working Group (JAWG), a Joint Working Group on Tourism (JWGT), the opening-up of embassies in their respective capitals, as well as launching an air communication between the two countries.

The sides expressed their concern over the aggravation of global threats and challenges - terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of organized transnational crime and stressed the need to strengthen collective, more active and effective actions of their states in the fight against these undesirable phenomena.

President Emomali Rahmon invited Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Prayuth Chan-o-cha to visit Tajikistan at his convenience. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
