Meeting with the Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Sharif Yaftali

Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Sharif Yaftali.

The development and strengthening of multifaceted relations with the brotherly country of Afghanistan was named one of the priority directions of the foreign policy of Tajikistan and was stressed that Tajikistan is constantly seeking to strengthen its cooperation with Afghanistan in all spheres of mutual interest.

It was emphasized that Tajikistan is always ready to expand even more bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan and to pay necessary attention to further cooperation within the framework of multilateral mechanisms.

The establishment of a system of quadrilateral cooperation between China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan was considered as one of the important measures and expressed confidence that the most rapid implementation of this initiative will be an important factor for strengthening the process of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

On this basis, Tajikistan's efforts in attracting the attention of the international community to the issue of ensuring general security and stability on the territory of Afghanistan were highly appreciated.

The sides also put forward constructive ideas on strengthening of bilateral military-technical cooperation and interaction in other areas of security, and the joint steps to bolster the protection of borders, ruthless struggle against international terrorist networks, radical actions and the smuggling of narcotic substances were named meeting the demands of time.
