Meeting with Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Qamar Javed Bajwa

Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The meeting discussed issues related to instability and anxiety in many countries of the world, in particular in Muslim countries, as well as other important international problems.

It was stressed that one of the main directions of Tajikistan's cooperation with all countries of the world, including friendly Pakistan, is to support and actively participate in ensuring and strengthening regional and international peace and stability

It was expressed satisfaction that the cooperation of the national armies, special services and law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Pakistan has been expanding and acquiring a new level and quality in the recent years.

Both parties have expressed their readiness for further expansion of this interaction, continuing on the basis of respect of mutual interests and mutual understanding.

The process of implementation of the reached agreements, covering various aspects of security and defense cooperation of the parties and military-technical assistance of the Government of Pakistan, playing role in the intensification of Tajikistan’s security potential in combating regional threats, was named corresponding to the mutual needs and interests.

The meeting also discussed issues of intensification of bilateral and multilateral cooperation on the stabilization of the political and military situation in Afghanistan, combating terrorism and extremism, strengthening of the state border and other issues of mutual interest.
