Meeting with the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed

The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon has met with the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed on the sidelines of the Arab Islamic American summit in Riyadh.

The current state and development of bilateral relations were the main subject of discussion.

It was pointed out that the expansion of bilateral cooperation with South-East Asia countries, in particular Bangladesh, is one of priorities and main directions of Tajikistan's foreign policy.

The Head of state Emomali Rahmon stated that the Tajik Government has created all necessary conditions for attraction of direct investments in the country and in this context the industrial and commercial circles of both countries can establish more direct links.

The launching of the Council of Entrepreneurs, the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, joint ventures on textile and clothing industry, processing of rice, raw leather and the production of finished leather were named the priority directions of bilateral cooperation.

Sheikh Hasina Wazed stressed her country's readiness and interest in strengthening cooperation with Tajikistan within the UN, the SCO and other international and regional organizations.

The sides also called the development of cooperation in the field of education one of the promising areas of interstate relations.

In the continuation of the conversation, the issues of strengthening fight against international terrorism and extremism, transnational criminal groups and establishing direct ties between security institutions were discussed.

Head of State Emomali Rahmon invited Sheikh Hasina Wazed to pay an official visit to Tajikistan at her convenience.
