Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulations to Frank-Walter Steinmeier on his election as the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, which reads in particular:

"Excellency,

I have the honor to congratulate you on your election as President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

We believe that the expansion and strengthening of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Germany is an important priority for the foreign policy of Tajikistan, and we look with optimism at their future.

It is gratifying that in recent years thanks to the joint efforts our developing relationships are consistently expanding, and acquiring a deeper meaning and content.

I hope for the continuation of this process and expansion of relations between the two countries.

Taking this opportunity, I wish you, Mr. President - good health, and in your new responsible position - success, and the friendly people of Germany - peace, tranquility, progress and prosperity."
