President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today as well has met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
At the beginning of the meeting President Emomali Rahmon said: "Today, the scope of cooperation between our countries tends to develop. We are satisfied by the level of inter-parliamentary cooperation between our countries. Exchange of visits by parliamentary delegations of the two countries and their participation in the conference and meeting each other will facilitate the swap over of best practices. "
It was noted that in recent times the Majlisi Oli (Parliament) of Tajikistan has created a group of friendship and cooperation with the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative of President of Tajikistan to strengthen and expand cooperation, especially inter-parliamentary relations, saying with confidence that this group will play an important role to take inter-parliamentary relations to a qualitatively new level.
Emomali Rahmon stressed that "the Republic of Tajikistan in the recognition of the international parliamentary cooperation in the region supports the proposal of Pakistan regarding the establishment of the Asian Parliament. Implementation of this initiative will play an important role in the exchange of best practices. "
The meeting also discussed issues related to the difficult political situation in the region and the world, including the military confrontation in Afghanistan, which creates new challenges for the security of the region and the fight against terrorist and extremist groups, the threat of the so-called Islamic State and other current issues.
