A comprehensive discussion of issues relating to the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan was held during the official talks in an expanded format.
A constructive exchange of views took place on expanding political, trade-economic, investment, scientific, technological and cultural relations, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan for its continued support of social development to Tajikistan and said that the financial and technical assistance of Japan in Tajikistan implemented over 340 social projects.
Appreciation was given to the activities of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the dialogue "Central Asia + Japan".
The sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation in the spheres of education and health. In particular, it was recalled that from 1993 to the present, 1800 Tajik specialists passed short courses of retraining and advanced training in Japan.
During this period, with the support of Japan also built or reconstructed dozens of schools and other social facilities.
However, it was stressed that there is the need to move from projects of technical and humanitarian assistance to the attraction of direct investments and soft loans in the Japanese economy of Tajikistan.
On this basis, special attention was paid to cooperation in the fields of industry, mining affairs, energy, transport, road construction, agriculture and other basic sectors of the economy of Tajikistan.
With the mention of the effective operation of the first joint Tajik-Japanese enterprise "Avvalin" (First), created by Tajik entrepreneurs and the Japanese company Koka in the Khatlon region, it was stressed that in Tajikistan there are great opportunities to create many joint ventures.
In order to develop such cooperation has been emphasized the need for the signing of agreements on trade and economic cooperation, encouragement and mutual protection of investments.
The necessity of the development of scientific and technical cooperation, including in the fields of geology, hydrology, energy and seismology, was also stressed.
The Tajik side greeted the intention of the Government of Japan on appointment of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan in early 2016.
A constructive discussion took place on regional and international issues, including on issues related to the situation in Afghanistan, the Middle East, avoiding the growing threats of terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
An exchange of views took place relating to Afghanistan for the possibility of joint participation of Tajikistan and Japan in the implementation of regional infrastructure projects such as energy project CASA-1000, road construction projects, etc., aimed at socio-economic development of the country and the region.
