Participation at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS member states

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part and spoke at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States which took place in resort town Burabay in Akmola region of Kazakhstan.

Before the meeting in an expanded format, Heads of CIS member states held a meeting in the narrow format, which was chaired by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, and during which have been reviewed 17 issues on the agenda of the meeting.

At a meeting of heads of CIS member states were discussed the draft documents regulating cooperation in the fields of migration, security and the rule of law, the fight against crime, emergency management, the protection of state borders, the development of military and military-technical and cultural cooperation, as well as an appeal in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in his speech at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States particularly thanked the Kazakh side for the implementation of specific measures in the course of the presidency in the Commonwealth and for the successful conduct of operations.

As well, President Emomali Rahmon congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the re-election as President of the Republic of Belarus.

 Emomali Rahmon stressed that in situations of instability in the world community, the financial and economic crisis, complications of regional conflicts, we have the opportunity within the community to discuss all the pressing issues and solutions to problems in the region and the world.

"All the issues included in the agenda of the meeting, including a statement of the heads of CIS member states on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, are now very important and relevant", said in his speech the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

According to Emomali Rahmon, there should be close and effective cooperation of CIS member states to ensure the safety and protection of state borders and the strengthening of the external borders of the CIS, on cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the process of migration, the fight against crime, cultural relations, emergency management, and the development of military and military-technical cooperation.

"In the past month as part of Summit and commemorative events of the United Nations, we had the opportunity to speak from the rostrum with sound proposals to promote peace, stability in the world, solving conflicts through mutual understanding and identify its strong position as a member of the world community. With confidence I can say that the CIS countries had a common position on global issues ", - said the Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The President also said: "Tajikistan has always supported the joint struggle against new threats, including terrorism, extremism and other manifestations of organized crime."

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his concern over the rise of extremist groups, the involvement of youth in their ranks, the use by terrorists of Islam for their dirty purposes, terrible acts of so-called "Islamic state", and the instability at the borders of the Commonwealth and urged the Heads of State to take drastic measures to combat these phenomena.

At the end of his speech, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his hopes that today's decision in the interests of the Commonwealth will be implemented properly and will be an important factor in the development and strengthening of our relations.

Presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan are participating in the session as well as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Andrei Galbur, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Satlyk Satlykov, charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Kazakhstan Yuri Lazebnik and Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev.
